|
February 12th, 2008 Bridgetown, Barbados - Since completing the highly successful Doha Asian Games 2006, the vision of expansion for the TMS Major Events Division has evolved in a As a former Athlete, and Chair of the International Paralympic Committee's (IPC) Athlete's Commission, David McCrae was honored to be invited by the conference organizers to represent his former colleague, Sir Phillip Craven, IPC President at the Gala Dinner, saying a few words on his behalf at the start of the evening.
"Legacy Lives 2008" took place in Barbados, January 28th - 30th 2008. As the title suggests, the conference content is based around the benefits and opportunities that come to host cities & countries, as a result of Major International Sporting Events taking place there. This presents the opportunity for every aspect of the industry to share experiences for that common goal. TMS eagerly awaits Legacy Lives 2009, set for January again, this time in Vancouver, where it is hoped that as well as exhibiting and attending, TMS staff may well be invited to present. TMS was delighted to have exhibitor status at the conference and a team of Kevin O'Connor (COO), David McCrae (VP Major Events Division), and Nicole Stanislav (Business Associate) enthusiastically mixed and networked with colleagues from previous & future Olympic, Commonwealth, and Asian Games Organising Committees, as well as those from FIFA, IRB, and ICC World Cups. Interestingly, even many future Bid & Candidate Cities saw great value in this learning and networking experience, giving a great opportunity to interact with potential future partners.
